Flashlight: Jessie J

Releasing Year: 2015

There is something about this song that makes me want to stand up and just sway. or participate in a revolution, Mockingjay style. But all I do is just sit or lay down and listen. That is enough too. The song is beautiful, the lyrics romantic and Jessie J’s powerful voice on such sweet melody is like the dash of salt you get after eating something real sweet.

Unravelling Broken Threads.

After numerous conversations, heated arguments and many debates later, I have arrived at the conclusion that I’m going to post pages from the story I had worked on for quite some time and is presently on a standstill due to infinite reasons excuses. I’d started writing this when on September 16, 2014 after an idea hit me like thunder. I worked on it religiously for about a month or so, and then it started happening sporadically. Now, it is on a standstill. I’ve since then struggled to continue but nothing worth writing hits me. Maybe your feedback will help me to write further.

The response I get after posting the first 3-4 chapters will determine whether I continue to post the story or not.

So presenting to you the cover of Unravelling Broken Threads.

Unravelling The Threads is about a girl named Jennifer, whose mind functions on a frequency very different from her family. Her ego and status at school is hurt by Nick, who after repeated attempts to befriend her, challenges her to participate and win the school elections to be held the next month. What follows is Jennifer’s journey from a unpopular, arrogant, unfriendly person to becoming the most popular candidate in the elections, tracing her life, making friends and memories, in face of all that suffocated her inside. Friendship, romance and memories all come together to give a story worth reading and cherishing.

3 Day 3 Quote Challenge.

For day 3, my quote is more of an Urdu poem from the movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, but the poem is so inspiring that I would love it to be my last day challenge. This is a poem titled “Toh Zinda Ho Tum” and has been written by renowned poet Javed Akhtar whose poetry is absolutely stunning, probably one of the most prolific poets of Urdu and Hindi.

Dilon mein tum apni betabiyan leke chal rahe ho.
Toh zinda ho tum!
Nazar mein khwaabon ki bijliyan leke chal rahe ho
Toh zinda ho tum!
Hawa ke jhonkon ke jaise aazad rehna seekho
Tum ek dariya ke jaise, leharon mein behna seekho
Har ek lamhe se tum milo khole apni baahein
Har ek pal ek naya samaa dekhiye
Jo apni aankhon mein hairaniyan leke chal rahe ho
Toh zinda ho tum!
Dilon mein tum apni betabiyan leke chal rahe ho
Toh zinda ho tum!

If you carry impatience in your heart then you are alive
If you carry dreams in your eyes then you are alive
Learn to live like the free waves of wind
Learn to flow like the sea does as waves
Receive every moment in life with open arms
Every moment is a new beginning seeing with your eyes
If you carry surprise in your eyes then you are alive
If you carry impatience in your heart then you are alive.

Have you ever heard something so marvellous and fascinating and inspiring and peaceful and hopeful and relaxing and just flawless? And with its perfect synchronization with the movie scenes, it was an out of the world experience. In fact, all throughout the movie, Farhan’s character Imraan recites such beautiful poetry that you are spellbound. Certainly Javed Akhtar at his best.

This concludes my 3 Day 3 Quote Challenge. I would like to nominate Cynic because I know she loves things like these, Anoop because he’s funny and Yusra, who is a poet herself, and I know that she’d enjoy it.

I hope you had equally as much fun as I had looking for quotes and poetry like this. Have a happy weekend!

Tu Aashiqui Hai: Jhankar Beats

Releasing year: 2003

This song came across a offbeat at the tie of its release due to unconventional music direction. Today, this song is widely appreciated. From the upbeat music beats, the lyrics, the liberal use of the perfect guitar, the placement of the song in the movie is just perfect. Just like the movie itself. A good song on a good day!

3 Day 3 Quote Challenge.

For Day 2, my quote is from the movie Rang De Basanti.

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is to live your life the way it is, tolerate everything that is happening and let the things be that way. The other way is to take responsibility and change them.”

This dialogue from the iconic ad revolutionary movie, Rang De Basanti is so true. How often do you hear yourself whine about the condition of your life, your surroundings, your country the world? Many a times, I have heard people in India whine about how dusty it is. But do you think that we have the right to complain when we have never even picked a broom, let alone clean the compound of your apartment? Your country’s politics is a mess. Join the politics. Set things right. Your boss is a sleazy obnoxious person who bullies everyone? Complain about it, take a stand. Things change, they do, but you have to contribute to the change. Just like Mahatma Gandhi said, “Be the change you want to see.”
