My Grandfather

It was my grandfather’s birthday that I composed this poem.

Always caring, always happy
Like the sun shining in the sky
Never sad, never lonely
Like the stars bright and high

You are never proud or vain
Always humble, always sane
You are affectionate like a mum
Always sporty, always fun

Hard working as always
But you have your spare time
When we ask, “How are you?”
You cheerfully say, “I am good and I am fine!”

Now approaching your 75th birthday
With a wrinkled eye and brow
Always as cheerful as you were
Happy birthday to you, Sir!
